When a loved one dies, one of the first tasks family and friends begin is organizing and planning for a funeral, memorial or end of life celebration. For those who don't belong to a church or who are nonreligious, finding a minister to officiate can be a difficult challenge during very difficult times. Many churches and religious centers do not offer care or services to individuals, couples or families, unless they are a member.
œI get many calls from families asking if I will help even though their loved one has not attended church, and is not a member of a church says Rev. Royal D. Bush, Chaplain at Inclusive Life Pastoral Care in Omaha. œOur mission is to provide care and services to all without exception; religious, nonreligious and spiritual. It does not matter if they are now or have ever been a member of a church or have a religious belief.
Often times funeral homes will offer referrals, hospice centers and nursing homes often have in-house Chaplains that may help; most of the time those are an excellent resource if you have no other options. Unfortunately, they do have the advantage of not having knowing your loved one and tend to mispronounce names.
œWe approach funeral, memorial and end of life ceremony planning very differently says Chaplain Royal, œwe meet with the family in an unhurried meeting to gather facts, share stories and learn about their loved one in their words. We co-author with family and friends a story that is based on stories, music, words and the life journey of their loved one. Inclusive Life offers families the ability to experience being served by a friend of the family and not a stranger.
Chaplain Royal organizes, plans and officiates memorials, funerals and life celebrations in the Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln areas. He is normally available to travel upon request.
Inclusive Life Pastoral Services provides care and services for those without a family pastor or church; weddings, funerals, premarital coaching, hospital visits, baptisms, naming ceremonies, dedications, blessings, end-of-life planning and other pastoral care. We provide services thought Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.
