FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 17, 2010 --

Rick Bellando hit a hole-in-one on a par-4 making it a Double Eagle, at the Cold Spring Country Club on Thursday, April 15, 2010. What are the odds of making a Double Eagle? Rarer than the hole-in-one, the double-eagle requires acing a par-4. Comparatively, the odds of making a hole-in-one are 13,000 to 1 and the double-eagle a million to 1 for the average golfer. Rick made the double-eagle on hole-10 which is a Par-4 and 312 yards. This is the first hole-in-one at hole-10 at the Cold Spring Country Club ever recorded in its 90 year history. Mayor of Freeport, Andrew Hardwick was there to witness the historic double-eagle. Rick Bellando also holds the record at the Country Club for breaking the most golf clubs (Five of which were broken in a single day). Rick, a true sport and humanitarian, was recognized in the news a few years ago for donating his own kidney to one of Oheka’s grooms, Matthew Fulgieri.

The golf course at the Cold Spring Country Club is considered one of the great private estate courses built during the Roaring Twenties by Otto H. Kahn, the original owner of OHEKA, when Kahn commissioned world renowned golf architect Seth Raynor to design the old-fashioned links course. The 18-hole course, now owned by the Cold Spring Country Club is a challenging par 71 (73 for women) and offers a unique design of small well guarded greens, well placed bunkers, and the charm of very few adjacent holes. Its beautiful topography is set around the world famous OHEKA CASTLE whose hotel guests now enjoy golf and tennis privileges at the Club. www.coldspringcc.org
