Ohio author releases new tween fantasy novel
Canadian Publisher—February 3, 2012—MuseItYoung Publishing is pleased to announce the release of Shellie Neumeier's new novel, THE WISHING RING, a tween fantasy perfect for children ages 8 through 14.
Set in the mythical land of Ur, The Wising Ring tells the tale of one princess’ journey to find courage and strength. The King’s castle stands alone atop Grand Ur Mountain, but even that does not match the solitude surrounding Princess Ally. With a carrot-shaped nose, she trudges through her princess duties with the most unfortunate face. With her pet greybar (a creature with the head of a greyhound, body of a polar bear, and wings of an eagle) as her only friend, Ally dreams of becoming a beautiful princess.
When Cory, a ninja-in-training, drops through the royal chimney, he does not intend to enlist the help of anyone, much less a girl, but she holds the key to the Creator’s map. The ancient map marks the secret hiding place of the magic Wishing Ring, a ring that grants the wearer one wish.
Cory’s mysterious need for the ring and Ally’s dream of beauty send the pair to a forgotten land. Only the war ravaged clan of Odana can translate the map’s key. But even if they manage to find a translator, the question remains—can they beat the Ogre who guards the ring?
“The Wishing Ring is a story told, not by one author, but three—myself and my youngest two children,” Shellie Neumeier says. “Inspired by their creativity, this story rides twists and turns that only the young could imagine.”
Neumeier, a former Wisconsin resident, is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and is the author of the best-selling Young Adult novel, Driven and critically acclaimed novella collection, A Summer in Oakville, co-written with Lisa Lickel.
“Literacy in the growing digital age is changing the landscape of education,” Neumeier adds. “As such, The Wishing Ring is not only offered in ebook format, but is accompanied by curriculum worksheets available for whiteboard use. It’s an exciting age to be an author…and a teacher.”
MuseItYoung Publishing is an independently owned Canadian-based publishing house producing fiction titles in trade paperback and e-book formats. Muse titles are available at MuseItUp.com and most major online retailers.
