Oil Sand Crusher used in Canadian Oil Sands Processing

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 14, 2012 -- Oil sand crusher is used in Canadian oil sands processing which the bitumen is mined from using an open pit mining strategy. Bitumen is a thick, sticky form of crude oil. At room temperature bitumen is like cold molasses. The bitumen is extracted from the ground using two major techniques: mining operation and in situ thermal recovery. The oilsands extraction process involves five steps: mining operation, crushing and separation process, hydrotransport and conditioning, bitumen separation and tailings transportation.

In mining operations, the tar sand is dug using electric or hydraulic shovels in an open-pit facility and transported on trucks to crushers to begin the extraction process, where the rocks and big particles are broken apart and where it is broken up to a specific particle or aggregate diameter (<100mm).
