Old Rock House launches quarterly showcase of St. Louis' elite underground comedy/music talent

St. Louis, Missouri, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 15, 2011 -- St. Louis, Missouri – September 15, 2011 – The Old Rock House, St. Louis' premiere concert venue, is teaming with upstart St. Louis comedy promoter No Name Comix to launch the quarterly Color Blind CoMcert Series, a showcase of the area's best underground comedy and music talent from across all genres.

The Series' debut entry takes place on Wednesday, September 28 at 8p.m., and will highlight the talents of four headline acts: stand-up comedians Josh Arnold and Jordan Wolf, experimental alternative rock group Via Sleep, and rapper Legion Lucciano. Rounding out the lineup are featured comedian Princeton Dew aka Yung One, and the show's two hosts, Comedian Spinks and Ben Flug.

Josh Arnold is a new favorite on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Show and currently resides in St. Louis where he was born and raised. He is a fixture on the local comedy scene, a staple at Westport's Funny Bone Comedy Club, and has opened for the likes of Dave Attell, Todd Barry, Chris Hardwick, and Dave Foley.

Jordan Wolf is a current finalist in NBC Universal's nationwide Stand-up for Diversity Comedy Competition. The St. Louis native has also been featured on MyTV46's Laugh Out Loud St. Louis, and is returning home from the West Coast to participate in the Series' launch, then turning in his first back-to-back hour-length performances at the No Name Comix Name Tag Series on Saturday, October 1, at The Grove Deli (8144 Big Bend, Saint Louis, MO, 63119).

Legion Lucciano is a consistent force in St. Louis hip-hop, working with mainstream artists such as Diamond from Crime Mob, and opening for Yo Gotti, YC, Ace Hood, Young Buck, and Young Joc, to name a few. He has been featured on Hot104.1's STL Home Jamz and Mixtape Minute, recorded TV and radio spots for Hip Hop H2O, and worked on four commercials for the ubiquitous Mcdonald's "i'm lovin' it" campaign. His latest mixtape, “Say My Whole Name” hosted by DJ T-Gutta, drops on Sept. 24.

Via Sleep are a fearsome foursome of experimental underground rock, fresh off their acoustic performance at 105.7 The Point's Sunday Night Ritual at The Oz. The prolific alternative music group regularly takes the stage at the city's top venues, as evidenced by their upcoming shows at Cicero's in the Delmar Loop on Sat., Sept. 17, and Pop's Nightclub and Concert Venue on Sat., Oct. 29. The band released their first album earlier this year at The Babylon.

Princeton Dew aka Yung One, Comedian (Charles) Spinks, and Ben Flug are well-connected fixtures in St. Louis' underground comedy scene, both as performers and promoters. Princeton Dew has featured for Mark Curry, Aries Spears, Paul Mooney, and Bruce Bruce, and was the regular host at the now-defunct House of Comedy. Charles Spinks has opened for Kym Whitley (“Suga” from the film Next Friday) and ran the weekly 2 Funny Thursdays show at Cougars for years before the venue closed. Ben Flug is the founder of No Name Comix, including the original Saturday night showroom at The Grove Deli, located around the corner from Webster University.
