Dear Mr. Kurtz,

On behalf of tens of thousands of dying AIDS victims in sub-Saharan Africa , HEDAC is pleased to express its deepest gratitude to you for the pro bono work you have done for us across Canada and around the world.

Very few Canadian registered charities have the privilege to be direct beneficiaries of a registered profitable gifting arrangement (“RPGA”) like the one you created for the Relief Lending Group (“RLG”).

Having you, of all people, serve as our spokesperson as well, is an honour, and we sincerely hope you will continue to help our charity grow into the future. Your vision of merging the for-profit world with the not-for-profit world, and aligning the interests of donors and charities, is compelling and refreshing. Your tireless dedication to educate Canadians and bring awareness to the people is appreciated and long-awaited.

We recognize the unique contribution you have made to charity law in general, and to the RPGA industry in particular. As a result, HEDAC has not only become one of the largest 25 charities in Canada by revenue (in record speed), but has also become the 2nd best performing charity in Canada in terms of how much of one’s donation actually is considered charity by the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”) . Despite raising and disbursing over $100,000,000.00 of emergency relief, your strategy and approach has actually enabled us to do so on a miniscule fundraising budget, which has caught the attention of the not-for-profit world, as well as the mainstream media and the World Press.

Thank you, again, for taking such a keen interest in HEDAC’s ongoing commitment to helping the suffering across the world.

Sincerely,

Stephen Mortfield
Director
HEDAC
