On September 13, 20010 on the stairs of the War Memorial Plaza, "A Great Day In Baltimore" photo shoot will recapitulate the jazz history of Baltimore past and present.

Baltimore, Maryland, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 24, 2010 --

Baltimore, MD, August 23, 2010--Legendary, local and international saxophonist, vocalist, recording artist, and band leader, Ray Gaskins, has organized “A Great Day In Baltimore." An initiative that aims to bring together working musicians in Baltimore for a historic and monumental photograph that would archive Baltimore’s rich musical history past and present. The photo will mirror Art Kane's “A Great Day in Harlem” that was taken in 1958 which featured such notables as Count Basie, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Thelonious Monk, and Charles Mingus. "A Great Day In Baltimore" is open to all local and regional jazz musicians.

The event is scheduled for Monday September 13, 2010 from 9:00 am-1:00 pm in front of the War Memorial Plaza, 100 N. Holliday Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. The photographer for the event will be local artist, Glenwood Jackson. All proceeds from the photograph will be donated to purchase musical instruments and to fund scholarships for students to participate in the “Jazz Workshop” at the Eubie Blake Cultural Arts Center. The Eubie Blake Cultural Center is located at 847 North Howard Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.

The event is being coordinated my local and international jazz/soul vocalist, Mia Miata. Mia independently released “Mia Miata’s Urban Arias” in 2007, and she is the host of “Goddess Talk Live” on Blog Talk Radio.
