December 23, 2009

Most people don't realize that you don't have to buy your scrapbooking supplies at physical stores! Online clipart/graphics and scrapbooking stores are all the craze these days!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 23, 2009 -- Do you love scrapbooking? Whether you do or not, fact is, most people know at least one person who LOVES scrapbooking! These days, more and more people are turning to the internet for their scrapbooking supplies and printing them off on their own printer!

People who buy quality clipart/graphics supplies online for traditional scrapbooking and digital scrapbooking know that the sky is the limit when it comes to being creative when you buy online! Whether you do digital scrapbooking or traditional scrapbooking, you can't go wrong with buying quality clipart/graphics for all your scrapbooking needs!

Whimsydoodlegraphics.com has a huge variety of quality clipart, patterns, and scrapkits!

Whether you like primitive designs, whimsical designs or other types of clipart or graphics, you can make your scrapbook pages look just as good as store bought supplies! If you have a fairly decent computer printer, you can print your own scrapbooking supplies like so many people are doing these days. Some of the things people use clipart or graphics for when doing any kind of scrapbooking are: elements, papers, word art and more! So how can you jazz up what the things you print you say? Well, one thing you can do is choose different types of paper to print on.

If you want to add features to make what you will be printing stand out more, then make sure you check out what different thicknesses of papers that are out there and think about what you will be using to adhere the decorative touches to the paper. There are a variety of papers you can use.

A few examples of what some people do to decorate what they print are: Add sequins, glitter, ribbon, puffy paints and more! Whimsydoodlegraphics.com carrys over 500 quality clipart sets, over 100 patterns (to digitizing for embroidery, printing as coloring pages for kids and more!)and carries scrapkits too! Along with all that, they carry whimsical paint can patterns, and are adding more and more sets all the time! They also sell Reseller Sets for people who own their own online store ( see terms of use in the Reseller Section) and would like to sell clipart.

The sky is really the limit if you are looking for elements, papers, word art and more when it comes to buying scrapbooking supplies! Using clipart/graphics sets/kits that you buy online from clipart/graphics stores is the new craze! Just because a store doesn't sell mainly scrapbooking supplies, doesn't mean a thing! Clipart/graphics stores have just as many endless options with the sets they sell!

Some things to remember when shopping for clipart/graphics sets:

1. Be sure to look on the mainpage of each store for the words "Conditions Of Use" or "Terms Of Use" (usually on the left or right side on the main page, tends to be in small print)and go there and read all their rules before you look at what they sell. Some people want to buy sets for their own personal use, while others are looking for sets to use in making scrapkits and other things to sell. Know the Terms Of Use (TOU) or Conditions Of Use (COU) before you buy from anyone. Some stores have various artist's designs, so the TOU or COU may vary (both of those terms mean the same thing, they are the rules you must abide by).

2. Don't hesitate to contact the store owner( usually the link is on the right or left side of the main page. Usually there will be a link that says something like "contact us". If you are at all in doubt about how you can use something or have questions about the item, contact them.

3. When you look at any item, be sure you know if it is for Personal Use (or PU), Commercial Use (CU). Those tend to be the main ones you will see, but there are other terms used to let the buyer know how they can use the item. Don't be intimidated though! When in doubt, check it out. Email the store owner if you aren't sure if you can use the item the way you want, don't assume. If you learn what the terms mean and you'll know them in no time. If you buy something that is PU (Personal Use) it's just that, for you to use and only you, you cannot sell anything you make (and you must know this....unless it says "Reseller" or something to that affect, or says specifically that you can, you cannot ever sell what you buy from the store owner as you bought it (about 99% of the time you must make something with it if they allow CU).

4. Read all product descriptions when you click on a set you want to see...always click on the set you like and read the product description before buying any item. Most will put how you can use the item in that description.

5. With color graphics/clipart that you will be printing out, 300dpi is best, If it's 72 dpi, it probably won't be as nice of a print.

6. Realize that most clipart/graphics being sold online will be either GIF, JPG or PNG format. Most do sell PNG for sure and include the JPGs too, and if they don't you can convert the PNG to JPG if you need it in any graphics program. You really don't need GIF these days, unless you are going to use the clipart for website design etc. JPGs will have a white background and you can't make them transparent. If the set includes the PNG format, be sure you know if it's transparent (no background) or non transparent (usually a white background)before you buy. PNG has the best quality basically, most people offer PNG, but not all. So be careful.

7. Most clipart/graphics are made by hand or with a mouse and the artist OWNS it no matter what. When you purchase items from someone ( whether they are the owner or they have permission to sell them from the owner) you are given permission to USE the items as outlined by the TOU or COU, you never are the owner.

8. Do not claim anything you buy as your own or alter the item on your computer (read their TOU or COU to be sure as this is a no no the majority of the time). Once you print it, you can add things to it though. You could be in trouble legally if you misuse an item by stealing it, sharing it with anyone (big no no) or using it in a way that is not allowed in their TOU.

9. One very important thing to know before you buy. Know how big you need the clipart/graphics to be. If something is only 300 x 150 pixels, it's going to be small. But if it's around 1200 x 1200 or more, it will be big. Better too big then too small. You cannot get a clear image if you take something small and make it big, it will be distorted.

10. VERY IMPORTANT! Most online stores DO NOT offer refunds. Why? Because you cannot physically return the item. If someone downloads an item they buy, and then asks for a refund.....the store owner has no way of really knowing if the person actually deleted the file and won't use it. They don't usually know all their customers. So be sure you know what you are buying is what you want etc.

Usually the stores online are either "download" stores or stores that manually send you the link to your items after you pay.

With download stores, after you pay, you usually have instant access to the items and can download them for a specific period of time ( anywhere from 1 week to 1 month, so be sure you know how long you have to download it). All you have to do usually is wait to be redirected to the store after paying (most take credit cards and paypal) and if you aren't be sure you wrote down the mainpage URL of the store so you can get back to the store). If you aren't logged in, you probably need to be to download your items. After you log in, go to your account and look for your order. Usually there is a button a ways down that says "View" or something, click that and then scroll down until you see button that says "download' or something similar. You then need to save it to YOUR computer. Be sure you know where you saved it. then you will probably need to unzip the file and your images will be available to use.

With stores that manually send you the link to your items, you may have to wait up to 24 hours to receive your items (Whimsydoodlegraphics.com is a DOWNLOAD store so there is no waiting!). Most store owners try to get you your items much faster then 24 hours. Also keep in mind, some store owners have other part time or fulltime jobs or aren't online 24/7 so they might not be on when you are, but they do check in to see if they have sales and to answer questions if you need.

Most stores ask you to sign up for an account, so that you can download your items, and that way no one else is downloading them but you. But that usually requires very little info that you ahve to share other then address, name, phone number (in case of problems) and an email address to contact you at. Be sure you type all things in carefully or they might not be able to contact you if they need to.

11. Most store owners DO NOT spam their customers and they do not give out your personal information. But if you come across a bad egg, don't boycott online stores because of a few bad eggs. You usually will have the option somewhere in your account or in the store to sign up for their newsletter if you want though and it's a great way to be up to date with their sales!

12. Be sure if you buy a scrapkit online, you know if it can be used for digital, traditional or both types of scrapbooking. : ) Sometimes it makes a difference.

13. Lastly, HAVE FUN! It's amazing the endless things you can do with online clipart/graphics supplies! it's caught on like wildfire!

I hope this has been informative and has made you want to race to your computer and try using clipart/graphics when doing anykind of scrapbooking!

: )
