The Ohio-based mother of two feels she may have gotten the inspiration for writing the book from her role in helping her sons grow from children to adults. "My sons and I have a very close and open relationship," stated the author, "because I’ve always wanted them to feel comfortable being able to come to me with anything that was on their minds." Berger has been a writer and poet for as long as she can remember and even recalls receiving recognition from grade-school teachers on some of her early poetry projects. However, it was only as an adult did she realize her true talent in poetry and decided to pursue a lifelong dream of writing and publishing her own book. Berger’s book is unique in that it not only reveals an important message, but it also introduces children to poetry.
