In the specific context of the speech delivered by the US President in Cairo and his recent message for Muslims worldwide in this holy month of Ramadan, IIMSAM Middle East Director & Goodwill Ambassador Dr. Naseer Homoud’ on the occasion of the World Peace Day, has written an open letter to the President, highlighting the needs and urgencies of the current situations in the Arab World and also the ways and means to tackle them in a holistic and purposeful manner. Hailing Mr. Barak Obama as the symbol of an undying youthful hope and visionary leadership in his letter, Dr. Naseer taking into his account the global concerns regarding the contemporary issues and challenges faced by the Islam in particular and the whole humanity in general, expresses the unavoidable scenario of not endeavoring in the direction of a peaceful solution of the various problems and eventually putting them to rest.
Dr. Naseer in his letter, talks about the pertinent emphasis the US President should put on the issues surrounding the whole world today. International peace and security, the divide between the East and the West, particularly between the West led by the United States of America and the Arab Muslims, the Arab-Israeli conflict, global Nuclear disarmament, democracy, stabilization, human rights etc are some of the most important points on which Dr. Naseer focuses in his letter. Ensuring human rights, as Dr. Naseer shows, can be the basic agenda for the US President, through which many conflicts can be addressed.
Asserting his firm belief in the success of the attempts shown by the US President to bridge the gap between the USA and the Islamic lands and peoples, Dr. Naseer tries to communicate with him many other issues and challenges as well as other means to check them. For example, he shows the ever greater need to accommodate and engage the power of youth in the nation building activities whether they are political, social or economic in nature. The youth, being the most formidable and innovative stock, can prove to be a boon to the contemporary as well as current problems. The changing global dynamics with all its merits and demerits must have an answer in the youth, as , Dr. Naseer manifests in his letter.
