Operation Fit New Year
College students set fitness goals in the tune of Super-Heroes
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 16, 2012
Research shows that more than 100 million Americans make resolutions every January but only one out of five actually stick with it. College students, also known as the MT Generation (Multi Tasking) by Time magazine, are of a generation that do not like being another statistic. They are about doing as many things at once as possible and achieving instant gratification. This year, females, who also happen to be out numbering their male counterparts, are taking a different stance with the help of O2 MAX and its college program, MAX U.
Rather than set unrealistic goals, MAX U empowers college females to discover their “inner super-hero.” On January 16th O2 MAX launches it Operation Fit 2012 which consists of 14 daily tips designed to inspire by using examples of super-heroes as they discover more about their individual fitness preferences and styles. “Super-heroes are strong, hot and sharp. They can kick-butt but also be hot and smart at the same time. We can learn a thing or two from them” says O2 MAX Founder Karen Jashinsky.
College students today are super savvy yet so overscheduled. Feeling good and looking hot go hand and hand but we all know with busy college schedules and maintaining a social life, it is easy to forget to take care of yourself. Even with all the apps and technology today it is hard to find a starting point for a goal. Take Kelley Dahlen for example, a senior at Oregon and also a member of the dance team and a sorority. She discovered MAX U in Fall 2011 as a campus ambassador. “Trying to balance school with practice and other activities sometimes seemed impossible. MAX U helped by giving me a consistent schedule with set goals to accomplish each day. My fitness coaches kept me in check by sending daily emails and Facebook messages with new and different work outs each day that fit into my personal schedule.”
Why set goals? Goal setting is used by some of the most successful people in the world. Goals inspire motivation and achieve success. Setting goals gives you the chance to see how much you can truly get out of life. Unless the majority of the world that set their “resolutions” for January 1st, O2 MAX chose January 16 to give students an opportunity to get a handle on their schedule.
O2 MAX integrates technology, social media and fitness to help students cope with their college environment and hectic schedules. “Part of reaching success in fitness goals is the actual workout but if you can learn more about yourself during the process you are more likely to reach even greater success,” says Karen. “Through the support of young adults, one can't help but be motivated to stay svelte and fit! Operation Fit 2012 gives college students a boost as the semester kicks into gear and spring break plans begin to take shape.
The open flow of ideas, tips, and tricks helps to inspire my own approach to physical fitness, introducing me to new exercises and quick meal ideas, while keeping me accountable, is what made the difference, says Sarah Wegescheide, a senior at USC. “I can have my workouts and inspirations on the go, wherever, whenever, and, in college, that is an invaluable thing to have. The plethora of outlets made it nearly impossible for me to find an excuse to slack off for a day. The updates were my constant reminders.”
College students can register at www.maxufitness.com for free and receive 14 days of daily emails, tweets and posts that will inspire, motivate and empower them to be fit-strong-savvy-smart and sophisticated as spring semester kicks into gear. Operation Fit will help college females learn about their personal fitness style which will help them achieve their fitness, personal and social goals.
