Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) has released its optical fiber identifier intended for use in applications in maintenance of CATV and telecom. It is an essential tool in the installation and maintenance of fiber networks. It identifies optical fibers without any damage by using macro bending to detect optical signals which does not require opening the fiber at a splice point for identification and also avoids interruption of the service. It belongs to GAO’s Optical Fiber Identifier family of products.

This optical fiber identifier, model 5304, features easy one key operation, low bending loss and highly efficient output. Using a Ø1mm InGaAs detector, it efficiently identifies the traffic direction indicated by left or right LED and frequency tone including 270 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz with audible indicator which activates an intermittent tone in the presence of traffic. The portable optical fiber identifier also displays core power of the fiber from -50 to 0 dBm. It is furnished with easy-to-replace adapter heads of Ø0.25, Ø0.9, Ø2.0, and Ø3.0 to match various optical cables. The mechanical damp design of adapter heads ensures the fiber will not be damaged. In addition, it is encapsulated within a durable metal housing and is powered by one 9 V alkaline battery.
