Employees from Opus Energy aim to raise £10,000 for Mencap in order to progress the work that it does to help people with a learning disability. Opus Energy will match match any funds raised.
Employees from Opus Energy, the Northampton-based b2b energy supplier, aim to raise £10,000 for Mencap over the next year in order to progress the work that it does to help the 5,000 people in Northamptonshire with a learning disability to lead independent lives. Opus Energy will then match any funds raised, bringing the grand total to £20,000.
In addition, Opus Energy will also be supporting Rainbows Hospice, an East Midlands-based hospice which offers care to children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
œWe chose to support Mencap and Rainbow Hospice as we wanted to directly support the local community “ the charities are of vital importance to so many people in Northamptonshire. Our previous fundraising efforts have encouraged our employees to challenge themselves and get involved in helping the local community, so this year will be no exception, said Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director, Opus Energy.
The announcement adds to the active fundraising and charity giving which Opus Energy has undertaken since 2010, during which time over £46k was raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust “ details of the fundraising activities are available on the Opus Energy Challenge website: http://opusenergychallenge.com/. In addition, last year's Opus Energy Gift video competition saw £10k given away by the company to help fund projects of local community groups and charities.
œMencap are absolutely thrilled to be working in partnership with Opus Energy this year. We are excited that the staff have already begun organising a very busy and proactive calendar of events in order to support our work with people with a learning disability in the Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire areas. Each week in the UK over 300 babies are born with a learning disability and the employees of Opus Energy will be making a distinct and measurable impact on the lives of the people we support in the local communities. We pride ourselves on the way we work with our corporate partners and we are all looking forward to rolling up our sleeves and joining in the fun with the staff, concluded Marie Brown, Regional Development Manager, Mencap.
