OSHA Industrial Truck Regulations
OSHA Industrial Truck Regulations
How to help your customer gain some clarity on these vague rules
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 22, 2010 --
Dewitt, NY – March 22, 2010: In the material handling environment, specifically the industrial truck segment, OSHA regulations are constantly changing. As part of its continued effort to keep young material handling professionals up to date with the latest industry rules and regulations, the March issue of MHEDA Edge is highlighting OSHA forklift regulations.
The article, entitled “How To: Help Your Customer Meet OSHA Requirements For Industrial Trucks” is written by Sunbelt Industrial Trucks Customer Service Representative Bruce Dickey. Dickey closely analyzes the specifics of the regulations. One specific clause he goes into is the OSHA requirement for pre-shift inspections of lift trucks. This is a particularly vague regulation. Dickey explains, “Exactly what components of their forklift trucks are customers supposed to tell their operators to examine? This seems clear enough to those of us in the forklift business, but how clear is this to the average, possibly non-technically inclined, customer? If customers seek clarification in the OSHA regulations, they may find that this resource is not much help.”
Dickey then goes a step further by explaining how a distributor can leverage this customer confusion to further establish their value. “This creates an opportunity for dealers to become their customer's resource. One inexpensive way to help is to simply resurrect or regenerate the daily inspection forms most of us have offered our customers for many years.” This simple act will help out your customer and further cement you as a valuable partner in their eyes.
