Operation Showers of Appreciation and SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Fund Host the Event

ELSINORE WOMAN’S CLUB, LAKE ELSINORE, Calif., April 2, 2011 – Twenty expectant military families will receive a baby shower they wouldn’t have received otherwise at the Elsinore Woman’s Club, courtesy of nonprofit partners Operation Showers of Appreciation and SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Fund.

The event is the Inaugural SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Baby Shower and will be held annually in memory of the first Medal of Honor Recipient in Operation Enduring Freedom SFC Jared C. Monti. The moms-to-be and moms of newborns up to six months of age will be receiving baby supplies, toys, clothing and so much more courtesy of Sophie the Giraffe, Ashford University, Summer Infant, Monkey Baby Clothing, Sweets Indeed, The Pixel Studio, Uncommonly Cute, CloudB and many other generous contributors and sponsors.

The event will be Sophie the Giraffe themed because they generously donated to the event. Sophie the Giraffe was more than willing to donate in support of the Inaugural SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Baby Shower and Operation Showers of Appreciation,” says Helene & Steve Montgomery of Calison, Inc. "Our family has experienced loss first hand when a cousin serving in Iraq was killed in action. We cannot express how grateful we are to the expectant moms for the sacrifices they make during one of the most exciting but stressful times of their lives. The birth of a child is overwhelming and being separated from family and friends makes that sacrifice even more humbling. SFC Jared C. Monti died a hero and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and all of the United States citizens. No words can express our gratitude but hopefully our contribution in memory of your son will offer some solace. OSOAmil began their partnership with the SFC Jared C. Monti Memorial Fund this year in 2011 to recognize and honor the sacrifices of military expectant families by hosting large scale baby showers for military expecting families.

The baby shower will be hosted by Lake Elsinore City Councilwoman Melissa Melendez and Courtney Faith Vera, National Guard Family Readiness Group Leader for the 79th Brigade Special Troops Battalion and Bravo Company, 79th Brigade Special Troops Battalion. Melendez is a proud Navy Veteran and Courtney Faith Vera has been awarded the California Commendation Medal for meritorious achievement for her work supporting military families.

Operation Showers of Appreciation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that hosts baby showers for military expectant families to ease the burden of stress by the constant potential for deployment exists for these service members. For more information, please visit www.osoamil.org.
