OSScamp – Open Source Community Unconforence Heads to Pilani

OSSCamp, India’s biggest Open Source Unconference, an initiative of OSSCube is scheduled to take place between March 12 and 14 at the premise of BITS (Birla Institute of Technology & Science) Pilani. The camp is being organised by the students of BITS Pilani, along with TEDx Pilani, a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience.

Many Open Source enthusiasts, industry professionals, technologists, will come from across the country together for a healthy exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices in the Open Source domain, making OSScamp Pilani one of the premier open source events of the Rajasthan area.
OSSCamp Pilani March 2010 will go on for three days and the schedule is designed so that participants can make the best of Apogee 2010, TEDx Pilani and OSScamp Pilani.

The camp is expected to be a huge bonanza for Open Source enthusiasts, with lively brainstorming sessions and exciting discussions on the latest trends in Open Source Technology among the best developers in the community. Our inhouse game designer and community evangelist, Kinshuk, will be demonstrating an open source real-time strategy game – 0AD at the camp. The three day camp will be an enriching experience with demos and presentations on multiple areas of Open Source Technology like, Apache Cocoon, Firefox Add-on development, and introductions to Twitter REST API, LAMP Development, SugarCRM and SVN &GIT version control system.

In addition to the above, OSSCamp Pilani will also have an exclusive FOSS Den (an open exhibition hall), which will remain open in the daytime, encouraging common people to visit and know more about FOSS. It will have video presentations to explain the concepts of FOSS lucidly and clearly to the visitors, with assistance from volunteers.

The campers will do a lot of social sandboxes on various tools and concepts too. OSSCube has, since the inception of the OSScamp Community, played an active role in promoting the unconference series and the community. This time too members from the OSSCube team are very excited about the camp. Shailendra, our SugarCRM Rockstar, will be leading a session about SugarCRM at the camp. Other team members also hope to make a useful contribution to the community initiative.
