CARLSBAD, Calif. - Pacific Ridge School, an independent, non-profit school in Carlsbad that fosters academic excellence, ethical responsibility and global engagement to prepare students for college and a purposeful life, is kicking off the 2009-2010 academic year with an exceptionally strong support base. Last year’s Annual Fund campaign garnered 100 percent participation with every family, faculty and staff member, and Board member, making a gift to the campaign. Barbara Ross and Jay Lichter, parents of Pacific Ridge School students, served as the co-chairs and leaders of the Annual Fund campaign. They were assisted by Lee Ann Allman and Bob Prendergast, also parents at Pacific Ridge School. All four committee members have agreed to be involved in leadership roles in this year's campaign.
The Annual Fund campaign contributions, which grew forty percent over the previous year, are allocated toward operational expenses and tuition assistance to ensure that a Pacific Ridge School education is attainable for students from all over San Diego's coastal north county. Annual Fund participation at Pacific Ridge far exceeded typical participation rates at independent schools across the nation. The National Association of Independent Schools reports that, on average, 64% of parents, 72% of faculty and staff, and 94% of Board members contribute to independent school Annual Fund giving programs.
“In 30 years of education, I’ve never seen a school community come through like this,” stated Dr. Eileen Mullady, head of school, Pacific Ridge School.
Pacific Ridge School begins the 2009-2010 academic school year with a 7th grade orientation from August 25-26, new 8th to 11th grade student orientation on August 28, and opening day on September 2. Admissions Open House events begin in November for prospective middle school families and in December for prospective high school families. This year’s Annual Fund Campaign is scheduled to launch in October.
