Packing in a hurry? Take the stress out of moving by making the most of the Leap Year
Bishop’s Move is there to help first-time buyers looking to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday before it’s too late.

(Free-Press-Release.com) February 23, 2012 --
Moving home is often regarded as one of the most stressful things we can undertake, but using the extra day this February to plan and prepare ahead can take some of the weight off for movers. It may only be 24 hours, but every one of them counts according to Bishop’s Move, particularly with the clock ticking on the Government’s stamp duty holiday initiative for first-time buyers, which is due to end at midnight on 24 March.
Staff at Bishop’s Move, the UK’s largest privately owned removals firm, are on hand to help make any move a stress-free event and have some sound advice for those looking to make the most of the extra day in this Leap Year to get their move in order.
Al Bingle, Bishop’s Move Managing Director, said: “To ensure things go to plan when the moving day arrives it’s important to be as organised as possible. With many first-time buyers rushing to beat the deadline on the stamp duty holiday and save themselves up to £250,000 in the process, there will be minimal time for planning ahead, which is why we’re advising them to put that extra day in February to good use.”
No matter what timescale you’re working to, there are some golden rules to follow to ensure a stress-free move and the staff at Bishop’s Move can offer a wealth of advice on avoiding the common pitfalls associated with moving home.
• Book ahead - Contact the removals company as soon as you have been given a date for the move. It’s no good packing it all in boxes if you’ve no way of getting those boxes from A to B
• Protect yourself - No move date can ever be guaranteed, no matter how far in advance it is set, so make sure you book Cancellation Protection with your removals company. This ensures peace of mind if dates do change, with no extra charge due even at very short notice
• Consider the small people - If you’re moving with children make sure you know which boxes they’re toys are packed in so they can get busy unpacking them once you’re in your new home. If you’re moving on a weekend or school holiday consider asking friends or family to look after them for a day or two so they don’t get bored and under your feet
• Don’t forget the garden – if you’ve got favourite plants then plan ahead in order to transplant them safely, but make sure you’ve researched the legal challenges first to ensure you’re safe to do so. Bishop’s Move’s ‘Guide to Moving Your Garden’ covers everything you’ll need to know
• Pets get stressed too – Upping sticks and getting used to new surroundings takes time for pets as well as their owners so have a read of Bishop’s Move’s ‘Guide to Moving Your Pets’ to ensure the move goes smoothly for them too.
“Perhaps the most important piece of advice we can give anyone moving home, particularly when a quick turnaround is required, is to remember that we are here to help,” continues Bishop’s Move Al Bingle. “We’re not just there to ensure your possessions get moved safely to their new location, we can help with the planning and preparations leading up to a move too.”
Bishop’s Move has a number of Moving House Guides available to download free from its website at www.bishopsmove.com, including a handy checklist which can help you save time and make sure you have everything prepared ahead of the big day.
