Pets for Patriots charity teams with Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary & Hospital to save lives of pet and person
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 13, 2011 --
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach and Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary & Hospital in Jupiter have joined Pets for Patriots as area adoption partners. In addition, Safe Harbor’s fully-staffed, onsite hospital will offer ongoing, discounted veterinary care to animals adopted through the charitable program.
Pets for Patriots addresses two compelling interests: the need for unwanted animals find loving homes and that of veterans to experience the unconditional love of a dog or cat.

Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.petsforpatriots.org “These are two groups that need one another. Swapping Kevlar for denim is a challenge every soldier faces coming home,” says Rich Anderson, executive director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “Readjusting is an emotional challenge, and a relationship with a loving pet is often the little boost our returning heroes need to get back to the day-to-day of civilian life.”
In addition to discounted veterinary care offered by Safe Harbor, Pets for Patriots provides direct financial support to veterans who join its program and honorably adopt eligible pets from either Peggy Adams of Safe Harbor. These contributions, renewable annually for as long as the veteran owns the pet, helps “member patriots” more easily afford pet food and other essentials.
“Our work doesn’t stop at adoption,” says Beth Zimmerman, founder and executive director of Pets for Patriots. “In many ways, that’s where it really begins. By making pet ownership more affordable and through our post-adoption follow ups, we work hard to ensure healthy, happy and lasting honorable adoptions in order to prevent one of the main reasons for animal surrender: short-term financial hardship.”
Individuals are welcome from all United States armed forces and at any stage of their careers.
Those interested in the program must first apply through Pets for Patriots and provide proof of current military service or honorable discharge.
Eligible pets must meet at least one of three criteria: dog or cat two years and older, dogs over 40 pounds regardless of age, or special needs dogs and cats. Joining Pets for Patriots is entirely free to veterans.

About Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League
Operating since 1925, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is a limited-access humane society that provides services to more than 10,000 cats and dogs each year. The organization operates an adoption program; shelter; low- cost vaccine, spay and neuter clinic; PetMobile; and other pet rescue services in order to protect and find quality homes for neglected animals in Palm Beach County. About Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary & Hospital
Safe Harbor's mission is to help animals in need. Animals that are sick, injured, abused, neglected and abandoned are our first priority. Safe Harbor operates a no-kill adoption shelter for cats and dogs, a veterinary hospital open to the public, offers dog obedience classes, operates a thrift boutique and has an active volunteer program. Animals in our adoption program remain in residence at our no-kill shelter until they are adopted into carefully screened and loving new homes.
Safe Harbor also believes that the answer to pet overpopulation and its attendant suffering is through sterilization. Safe Harbor has been a pioneer in low cost and juvenile spay/neuter since 1985 when opening the doors to the second low cost spay neuter clinic in the State of Florida.
Safe Harbor receives no government funding and relies on donations from the public, grants and our own fundraising efforts. To learn more, visit www.safeharboranimalsanctuary.org.
