“Windtalker” is one of a dozen local artists who will perform on two stages at this family friendly, community-oriented event, on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Morgan's Grove Park, on the corner of Kearneysville Pike (Route 480) and Morgan Grove Road, just outside of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, from 11:00am till 9:00pm.
“Windtalker’s” unique style of music blends Native American-style flute with the lush sounds of piano, cello, guitar and Native percussion and weaves a musical tapestry perfectly suited for the theme of this event, which is to appreciate, enjoy and protect our environment. For years, “Windtalker” has been bringing his special brand of music to festivals, coffee houses, wineries, schools, churches, private parties and other intimate venues. He was also the guest performer for a moonlight tour held by the National Park Service at New Mexico’s Pueblo Bonito ruins at Chaco Canyon National Historical Park. At 11:00am he brings his beautiful music to the Panhandle Earth Day Celebration.
“Windtalker” will be playing pieces from his current CD, “Native SoundScapes,” as well as many new arrangements that will appear on his upcoming CD.
Along with outstanding music, Panhandle Earth Day includes arts, crafts, food, kid's activities, demonstrations, environmental & conservation groups, activists, vendors, a Farmers Market and more! Environmental and conservation groups participating include The Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Sustainable Shepherdstown, Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, Craft Works and more. Vendors will include Shepherdstown Pedal and Paddle, River Riders, Cottage of Herbs, Tim's Gems and more.
This is a leave no trace event. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch, lawn chairs, blankets, recreational equipment, and comforts for an afternoon in the park. Please leave your dogs at home. This is a rain or shine event.
