FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 26, 2010 --
This April is National Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month, so in honor of this, Rich and KimRozek, hosts of PD Talk Live will broadcast a very special 2-hour “live” episode relating their experiences from 2002, when Rich was first diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease, until now. They also invite listeners to call-in and share their experiences with the Disease. The program will air on Blog Talk Radio at 8PM (CST).
This year marks the beginning of the third-year that husband and wife team, Rich & Kim Rozek have been hosting “PD Talk Live,” a weekly broadcast that features their experiences of living with Parkinson's Disease.
Also during this special broadcast, Rich, a singer/songwriter for over 30-years will be debuting his song about Parkinson's Disease called "Actions Speak Louder Than Words." The song will be available online and will be included on a upcoming full-length release entitled, “Positive Metal Attitude” by RoarCry, his new musical entity. Profits from the song will go towards Parkinson's Disease Awareness.
When asked if it was harder to record the song because of the disease? He replied, “Well it wasn't easy. I can't practice or perform like I used to, that's for sure! What made all of this possible was my Mac computer, and a software program called Logic. Apple made all of this a possibility! It's allowed me to do what I love again!”
Rich and Kim did their first broadcast on January 7, 2008. Since that initial broadcast the couple have produced over 125 episodes, and have become one of the most listened to Parkinson's broadcasts worldwide!
PD Talk Live's episodes are available on Blog Talk Radio. The weekly episodes are also available on iTunes, and the couple's official website, PD Talk Live.com.
Rich explained, “We thought a program like PD Talk Live was really needed. When you have YOPD, you’re typically between the ages of 30 to 55 years, and usually your just not prepared for PD in this stage of your life! You might have responsibilities like a spouse, children, a career, and then you find out you have Parkinson's Disease, and the news hits you so hard that you're emotionally floored!” What helped me initially was reading “Lucky Man by Michael J. Fox,” he's about the same age as me, so I could really empathize with him.”
Rich added, “The doctors will usually suggest that you find a local support group to attend, but that's tougher than it sounds since many Parkinson's support groups meet during the day, which makes it hard for a person with Young-Onset Parkinson's that still works to attend. I'm assuming this situation will change now as more younger people are diagnosed with the disease. This is why Kim and I started the program, so we can share our experiences with others that live with Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease. We know how tough this is to live with, because we've been there – and we're still there! Our life is an open book to our listeners. We just hope it helps them.”
