FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 18, 2010 --

Wingspan‘s Conflict Corner will welcome back Ronald Mumford, Adoption Specialist, to review the adoption procedures and provide us with the status of children arriving in South Florida since the crisis. Charlee Homes for Children assist children by placing them in foster care, providing life skills training and are actively going into churches, organizations and community groups to find adoptive families. Mr. Mumford will discuss MAPP, the program adoptive parents are mandated to take and common myths of foster care and adopting. Michele Sweeting, Florida Department of Children Management and Families Consultant, will discuss social and growth development and ways the department supports families that have elected to adopt. She says, “Love always helps,” when it comes to healing and recovering for children. The negative stigmas cause additional trauma to the lives of the children but there are programs that assist children and adoptive families. Mrs. Sweeting will detail the programs while she and Mr. Mumford will dispel myths and stigmas.

The second part of the show will give adoptive families and survivors of the earthquake an opportunity to share their stories. Parents who’ve waited for years to adopt and others that had to make decisions that resulted in families being separated following the crisis will describe life since January 12th. Kerline Seignon, West Palm Beach, had to leave Haiti however, has plans to return to open an orphanage.
