Gender Matters Conference on September 18, 2009 in Los Angeles to Explore Gender Inequality in Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Pain

LOS ANGELES (September 15, 2009) Patricia Wynn-Jones, MD, Olympia Medical Center, will be one of the featured speakers at the 2nd Annual CME Women in Pain conference presented by For Grace, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring the ethical and equal treatment of women in pain, and Healthy African American Families. The 2nd annual CME Women In Pain Conference: Gender Matters – Building Bridges to Optimum Health will be held September 18, 2009, at the California Science Center in downtown Los Angeles, and will focus on giving women of all walks of life power over pain. The event will be open to the public with free admission.
More than 76 million people in the United States suffer from chronic pain; Most women and minorities go undiagnosed or never receive proper treatment.
At the Women in Pain Conference: Gender Matters, women of all ages and ethnicities will come together to seek out the latest information from health care professionals on chronic pain, discuss the importance of gender differences, review current pain management practices, discover alternative therapies for pain control, provide group support and much more.

More than 500 women in pain, caregivers and healthcare providers will attend the conference. Conference speakers will include:
