Pellissippi State Community College in Tennessee Gives Scholarships to Students Who Desire to Study Abroad - Three Week Program Boosts Diversity By Offering Travel to 13 Countries

But as a previous student of South College, I can vouch for the fact that in no way does any other college offer the benefits that Pellissippi Community College has to offer its students. As a student for the first time at Pellissippi might wonder how they will get to know others and how they find out about things that are offered, there is no shortage of information flying around the campus. The campus is swarming with happy faces and proud people - people who are learning to be somebody -- people who now have a future.

Those who have taken advantage of all of the information available have, no doubt, have passed someone in the hall who is planning to study abroad. If they have, they've probably heard all about it. The countries, the food, the people, the government, the sites -- are just some of the exciting topics people are talking about. The months are approaching quickly and with an application deadline date of only a few months away, the excitement is escalating. But it's still not too late.

Pellissippi State Community College offers the program for travel and study in countries such as Belgium, England, India, China, Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Mexico and Spain, among others. Financial aid is offered to those students who get their applications in by the deadline date AND meet the necessary requirements. A 51-yr old Business Management student who was approached by someone in the cafeteria before classes even started states, "It's my time now. My kids have grown up and I've finally realized that by doing this for me, I'll be doing it for them. " Businesses love for their employees to be diverse and to know more about what's out there in the business world. "I didn't think there was any way in the world I'd have this opportunity offered to me, but it was -- and I'm taking advantage of the gift."

No matter what subject one is interested in studying, there is something for everyone at Pellissippi. The staff and faculty are helpful beyond expectations. The Access and Diversity department supported by Ms. Gayle Wood is situated mid-campus with easy access, a computer, coffee pot and a good place to visit and study. Those of us non-traditional students, ie. anyone over 25, are welcome at any time to visit and learn with their peers.

Studying abroad in any country is exciting to say the least. But in a time when the economy has put us in the position to re-enter the college scene, taking advantage of all of the programs offered is a surefire way to boost a resume and to learn in a way that sets you apart from others applying for the same position for which you may be applying.
