Announcing the opening of a brand new performing arts training center in San Antonio, Texas. Under the direction of Paul Tinder and Vaughn Taylor-Tinder, the new center will offer classes and intensives in acting, acting on camera, musical dance theater, and vocal technique. Other services will include commercial acting classes, filmmaking classes, and Saturday youth theater productions. Weekly classes, workshops, and weekend intensives will be available. Located at 15717 San Pedro Avenue in the Country Village Plaza, the doors are scheduled to open in January 2010.
PASA's Objective is to create a unique environment, a "HUB", where independent production opportunities of all kinds are created internally and benefit the region. This model will help keep revenue in Texas thereby creating a self-perpetuating vehicle for expanding the Central Texas entertainment infra-structure. The real world experience our students receive through these theatrical events, followed by film and broadcast projects created by the principles and affiliates of the company, will generate skills to enhance their personal character as well as prepare them for advancement within the broader theatrical and movie production industries. This foundation will ultimately cultivate a vibrant and creative atmosphere prolific enough for artists to make a living without leaving. The combined professional entertainment production and training experience of the management of Performing Arts San Antonio enables the company to pursue these goals and in turn become a major independent supplier of quality entertainment projects.
Paul Tinder and Vaughn Taylor-Tinder have extensive entertainment industry experience in performing, producing, script writing and project development. Their experience ranges from developing feature films for major entertainment markets and starring in national network television programming, to creating and producing small local theatre. Their responsibilities have included negotiating production and performer union contracts, negotiating distribution contracts, overseeing sub-contractor services as well as hiring production teams. This breadth of experience gives them a credible and valid foundation upon which to successfully develop a performing arts endeavor.
Paul and Vaughn formed Rising Star Entertainment, LLC, to produce the feature film "The Long Ride Home". Starring Randy Travis, Eric Roberts, Academy Award Winner Ernest Borgnine and Garry Marshall, it was successfully distributed by Lions Gate in the U.S., Porchlight Entertainment overseas and in the Inspirational Market by Questar. It won the 2004 Telly Award for Writing, Producing and Acting and was a featured film on the Encore Western Channel. Vaughn wrote the screenplay and played Laura, the female lead, and Paul produced the film and played Abel Hart, the villain.
In addition, Paul and Vaughn were founding members of the award winning Actors Co-Op in Los Angeles. Their duties included oversight of the construction of The Crossley Theatre in Hollywood, Artistic Direction, Writing, Producing, Teaching and Directing numerous productions. They also produced many theatrical productions in the Los Angeles area and Beverly Hills.
As far as their own training is concerned Paul and Vaughn have studied acting and directing with some of the best teachers in the industry including Warren Robertson, Herbert Berghof, Wynn Handman and Bill Esper in New York. In Los Angeles they studied with Charles Conrad, Tom Troupe, Film Actors Workshop and Ivan Markota. Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman, Princess Diaries, Happy Days, etc.) was instrumental in mentoring Paul as a producer/director. Larry Gelbart (MASH, Oh God, Tootsie, etc.) and Gene Reynolds (MASH, Lou Grant, Touched By An Angel, etc.) were instrumental in mentoring Vaughn as a writer/director.
Because of their extensive backgrounds, Paul and Vaughn are uniquely qualified to offer students the "Professional Experience." Classes will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. For more information, call (210) 557-1187, or stop by their website at http://www.performingartssa.org.
