SEATTLE, Aug 10 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Former medical doctor turned-researcher, Lawrence Green, CEO of Bokashicycle www.bokashicycle.com found a simple sustainable solution to recycle food waste. He then discovered how to get rid of the pet poop problem using the same pickling process.
The BokashiPetCycle fermenting system is the World's only fermenting system available to safely and rapidly pickle pet waste. Pet waste can easily be pickled making it safe for burial. Plastic bags are a thing of the past.
Dr. Green, the inventor, commented that responsible pet owners are put in an almost impossible situation. They are told to keep the poop out of the garbage can to avoid filling the landfill but don’t bury it for fear of contaminating the ground water. His answer is “pickle the waste.”
The proprietary BokashiPetCycle system uses a process of pickling pet poop with microbes in a specialized container that excludes oxygen. Pathogenic microbes in the waste are consumed or otherwise suppressed in the pickling process resulting in a safe product that can then be put in the soil to feed ornamental plants.
"Putting pet waste into plastic bags that end up in the landfill is not a good thing and they are no longer needed or useful," Dr. Green explains. "The BokashiPetCycle fermenting process uses a natural organic accelerant with microbe powder to break the waste down quickly and safely.” According to Dr. Green the process only takes about 7 days and there is a bonus.
“Owners can feel good about making their ornamental garden a lot brighter. Pickling gets rid of the fly problem and nasty odors are eliminated. Pet owners can feel good about doing it right.” The microbe powder is actually Bokashi culture mix and is comprised of wheat bran, molasses and microorganisms that, when added to pet poop, causes the material to ferment into a product that can be used to restore soil nutrients.
The BokashiPetCycle, food waste systems and culture mix are available at retail stores including Vancouver Island's Buckerfield’s stores; British Columbia's Arts Nursery; Bylands; Britefield, Buckerfield and Whole Foods Penticton stores, Portland's Everybody's Garden Store, and online at www.bokashicycle.com. The BokashiPetCycle system retails for $130-$150.
About Bokashicycle
Bokashicycle was founded in 2008 by Dr. Larry Green, a research scientist and medical doctor with more than 40 years experience in biosciences. Keenly interested in finding quality sustainable and green solutions to common problems affecting our daily lives, Dr. Green also created the Bokashicycle system for food waste disposal that stops green house gas production, conserves water, and delivers nutrients and microbes to the soil for plants. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Green holds a PhD in Chemistry. For more information, www.Bokashicycle.com or call 1-800-714-2130.
