PETA-NAHAR INVITES STARS TO ENDORSE THEIR 10th ANNIVERSARY BASH

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 23, 2009 -- In celebration of a decade of victories for animals who are abused in the food, entertainment and experimentation industries, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India announces its 10th Anniversary Gala in Mumbai on 18 December at the newly opened Trident Hotel in BKC.

"It is thanks largely to our celebrity friends and the countless people they have influenced that PETA India has been able to accomplish so much for animals over the past 10 years", says PETA Founder Ingrid E Newkirk. "Animals have been freed from laboratory cages, elephants have been liberated from chains, and thousands of people have discovered that the most powerful thing you can do to save animals is to leave them off your plate. This is our way of thanking our generous and compassionate supporters who helped make all of this possible."

Throughout its decade of fighting animal abuse, PETA India has enlisted the support of numerous animal-friendly celebrities to help spread its message of compassion for animals. The gala's hosts and cake-cutters were John Abraham, Hema Malini, Atul Kasbekar and Raveena Tandon Thadani.

Actor Shahid Kapoor was the recipient of the Sexiest Vegetarian award presented by Mr Sukhraj Nahar, Chairman Of Nahar Group.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. Sukhraj Nahar said, “ It is time that people take a step to avert cruelty towards animals as they have an equal right to live without prejudice. We often stand up for causes which protect mankind but conveniently ignore cruelty to animals, This is our way of pledging support to this social cause.”

Mr Sukhraj Nahar is well known for his immense contribution to social causes and community welfare through his trust S. B. Nahar Charitable Trust & Research Center. Apart from serving mankind he has also pledged support to PETA by adopting around 300 cows in Rajasthan. He has received a special award for his valuable assistance rendered to the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai in dealing with the situation arising from the unprecedented rains and floods in Mumbai on 26/27th July 2005.

Other honored guests included Mahdavan, Gulshan Grover, Daina Hayden, Yukta Mookey, Dhanraj Pillai, Rahul Dev, Celina Jaitly, Amisha Patel, Hemant Trevedi, Jackie Shroff, Mahima Choudary, Apoorva & Shilpa Agnihotri and many more. In addition to the awards presentations, guests were treated to performances by Rahul Sharma, Ash Chandler and IshQ Bector as well as a delicious vegan dinner and cocktails.
