Nigro’s will donate 10% (up to $250) of new customer claims to charity. Customers can choose from five different organizations (Red Cross, The Food Trust, Variety, United Way, SPCA).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 19, 2011 -- South Philadelphia’s own Nigro’s Auto Body is proud to announce their new “Choose Your Charity” program. This holiday season, Nigro’s will donate 10% (up to $250) of new customer claims to charity. Customers can choose from five different organizations (Red Cross, The Food Trust, Variety, United Way, SPCA).

The promotion allows Philadelphians to give back just by choosing where they get their car serviced, and without paying anything out of pocket.

“We want to turn a negative into a positive. A car accident is one of the worst things that can happen to someone. Why not turn it around and help people feel GOOD about themselves for helping out others, as well as giving much needed support to the charities.” says owner, Domenic Nigro.

This is just the latest in a history of charity related initiatives at Nigro’s. They’ve previously held events that benefited The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Alex’s Lemonade and the Red Cross. “We just want to help people” says Domenic, “whether it’s our Autotex wiper blades that benefit breast cancer research, or through empowering customers with the gift of giving, it’s our mission to help.”

About the Charities:

The Food Trust: Founded in 1992, the Food Trust works to improve the health of children and adults, promote good nutrition, increase access to nutritious foods, and advocate for better public policy. Donations to The Food Trust support farmers’ markets in low-income communities, school nutrition programs, supermarket development in low-income neighborhoods, Night Market Philadelphia, and many more programs that improve access to affordable, nutritious food.

SPCA: Throughout the years we have been dedicated to improving the lives of Pennsylvania’s animals through our core programs including:
A humane law enforcement department that responds to situations of animal cruelty and neglect
An animal shelter to house the animals we have rescued and
A low-cost veterinary clinic providing medical services to clients in the Philadelphia region

Variety: The Children’s Charity of Greater Philadelphia has been serving children with disabilities since 1935. Our programs and services are designed to best address the children’s physical, social, medical, educational, and recreational needs without regards to economic status, race, creed, gender, or type of disability.
Variety serves children between birth and 18 with temporary and/or permanent disabilities resulting from injury, illness, or congenital conditions.
United Way: To harness, leverage and strategically invest the collective power of donors, advocates and volunteers, to drive measurable results that improve the lives of people in our region. Their vision is to be the region's leading catalyst for change, inspiring and uniting local communities to collaboratively invest in results that ensure children succeed in school, families are financially stable, and older adults thrive.

Red Cross: The American Red Cross has a unique role in serving as the safety net for the American people in their hour of greatest need. Although the American Red Cross is not a government agency, its authority to provide disaster relief was formalized in 1905, when Congress chartered the Red Cross to "carry on a system of national and international relief in time of peace and apply that system in mitigating the sufferings caused by pestilence, famine, fire, floods, and other great national calamities, and to devise and carry on measures for preventing those calamities."
