Opening of the Exhibition "THE ART OF THE FLOWER" by the PHILADELPHIA SKETCH CLUB, on March 7, 2-4 pm.

The PHILADELPHIA SKETCH CLUB cordially invites to the Opening of the Exhibition " THE ART OF THE FLOWER" on Sunday, March 7, 2010, from 2-4 pm. The Award Presentation will take place at 3 pm. The show will be open from March 5 - 20th.
The open exhibition was juried by Julien Robson, Curator for Contemporary Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Art; Shayna V. McConville, Int. Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs at Tyler School of Art/Temple University; and the Cerulean Gallery & Studio proprietors Tina Rocha and Michael Kowbiz. 118 works of art on the theme of flower in all media are on display.
The historic quarters of The Sketch Club, a triple town house from the early 1800's is located at 235 South Camac Street in Old Philly (12/13th and Locust/Spruce). The Club was founded in 1860 by Thomas Eakins and other artists who wanted to hone their drawing skills. Many Philadelphia museums and institutions are participating in the 150th anniverary this year by holding exhibitions highlighting famous club members like Thomas Anschutz, Joseph Pennell, N. C. Wyeth, Peter Moran, Maxfield Parrish, and many more.
