Philly Poets Spar in Front of Packed House

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 27, 2012 -- Join The Philadelphia Poetry Slam and 150 poetry fans to welcome internationally touring poet, Jive Poetic to Philadelphia on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 at 8:30pm, at the Media Bureau Studios, 725 North 4th Street, in Northern Liberties. A spoetry workshop led by Jive begins at 7:30. Slam sign up is at 8:30, and the show starts at 9.

Jive Poetic is a poet, teacher, hip-hop connoisseur and DJ. Jive Poetic has finished in the top ten at both the U.S. and Canadian Individual Poetry Slams. Jive has toured through out Europe as a U.S. Embassy representative and across Australia as 1/3 of the Global poetics. He currently hosts the Wednesday Night Slam at the world renowned Nuyorican Poets Café.

From 7:30 to 8:30pm, Jive Poetic facilitates a writing workshop that is free for attendees of The Pigeon Presents: The Philadelphia Poetry Slam. At 9 sharp, Jive Poetic headlines the monthly Philadelphia Poetry Slam, a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience.

“We’re honored that some of the top performance poets in the country headline our slam. Jive is going to bring the house down.” says co-founder and ‘08 & ‘09 Philadelphia Slam Poetry Champion Alyesha "Ms." Wise.

“The slams are exciting to watch. Philadelphia’s best performance poets are competing in front of a packed and rowdy house. The Pigeon will send a great team to the national performance poetry competition, The Southern Fried Poetry Slam, this June in Tampa, Florida.” Says co-founder Jacob Winterstein.
