A generous percentage of the proceeds -- between 10% to 30%, based on the number of sales -- will benefit Nevada State Parks by providing much needed revenue.
The collection, called “Playground of The Gods,” is a photographic study of the Valley of Fire in black and white film and Kodachrome color.
“A high number of international visitors to our website, www.NicholasPrice.com, frequently ask about purchasing Price’s work on the Valley of Fire,” said Grace Price, president for Nicholas Price Media. “Our collaboration with Nevada State Parks allows visitors to conveniently purchase these beautiful works of the Valley of Fire online.”
The “Playground of The Gods” collection of 35-40 photographs has been viewed by thousands of tourists and visitors from around the world and was showcased in a four-month solo exhibition at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas.
“There are few places on this earth as unique and beautiful as Valley of Fire and Nicolas Price has truly captured that beauty in his photographs,” said David Morrow, administrator of Nevada State Parks. “We are very pleased that he is willing to donate a generous amount from the sale of his book, Playground of the Gods, and from the fine art prints he has created, commemorating Nevada State Parks’ 75th anniversary.”
Price shot the entire project using two 35mm professional film cameras and a range of black-and-white and the now extinct Kodachrome Color film. He developed and printed every photograph by hand. Price said black-and-white film is his medium of choice, because it “allows the viewer to focus on the real subject.”
Originally from England, Price lives and works in the United States. He is an international and acclaimed master fine-art photographer, sculptor and painter. Price has spent the past decade documenting the American people, using his unique style and highly technical skills all through the lens of his manual film cameras.
His work has been featured in numerous media outlets including The Boston Globe, L.A. Times, USA Today, Sarasota Magazine, Life, Fox News and KNPR- National Radio. Price’s collections have been published in five books and exhibited at key events and institutions throughout America, including the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum, The Springs Preserve, National Museum of the US Air Force, Library of Congress and his work is collected in more than 35 countries including the recent acquisition of Cleared Hot!, a collection 60 photographs, by the Library of Congress.
