New Jersey’s Arthur Murray Princeton has arrived at Quaker Bridge Mall, making it only the second mall in the United States to have an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. While the Arthur Murray Franchise celebrates its 100 year anniversary, Arthur Murray Princeton is trying this new concept in the Arthur Murray world. Arthur Murray Princeton will be holding its’ official Grand Opening party on February 25th, 2012 at Quaker Bridge Mall.
Why put a dance studio in a mall? As studio co-owner Lori Soderholm puts it, “It makes perfect sense. When Arthur Murray first started teaching people to dance, studios were located in downtown areas of cities because that’s where people lived. As people moved to the suburbs, dance studios quickly followed. I always thought a mall would be a great place for a studio since a mall is a major center of activity in most suburban areas. Malls are conveniently located and have plenty of parking, so people can spend more time enjoying themselves. Once they get home, they don’t want to fight traffic or struggle to find parking!” Though the studio’s official Grand opening is only weeks away, Soderholm is pleased with the popularity of this new addition to Quaker Bridge Mall, “We’ve only been open a couple of months and the number of new students we have is growing fast.”
With some 280 dance studios worldwide, it’s no surprise that Arthur Murray has become the subject of a PBS dance special exploring the 1950’s variety show The Arthur Murray Party (an American television variety show which featured dancing by Arthur and Kathryn Murray). Shows like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, have helped renew the general public’s passion and enthusiasm for social dance. For more information on Arthur Murray Princeton and it’s official Grand Opening at Quaker Bridge Mall, contact Lori Soderholm at (609) 897-0100 or danceprinceton@gmail.com or Rae Wilson at (973) 744-1122. Arthur Murray Princeton is located at 198 Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrenceville, NJ.
