The company announced Friday that they would be launching with a 3 month limited Beta period, starting October 31st, 2010. The company also stated in it's press release that all members who sign-up to participate in the Beta Trial, will receive a Free 12 month Premiere Membership Package. PimpYourTwitter.com is a "Twitter Experience Portal" says VP of Customer Experience Ryan Reynolds. Many of these business services are being provided by a company called Internet Karma, a very below the radar start-up that has many large VC funds talking according to sources. We asked Internet Karma Chief Technology Officer Ryan Alexander to talk about the service they will provide to PimpYourTwitter.com, "Companies can now reach their target audience very easily over social networks like Twitter, but that kind of access is bi-directional and companies today need to quickly react to online debates and conversations about their products and services. Word of mouth advertising has always been the best kind of advertising a company could get, but it just could never provide the scale of TV, Print or Radio. The Internet has absolutely smashed that paradigm and when you look at social networks, they are essentially very large conversations. The choice a company has to make is, do they want to participate in these conversations?" Alexander went on to say, "When someone praises a product online it typically is used by a consumer to validate a choice they are already considering or to help in researching a purchase, but these types of positive comments are viewed with a grain of salt by most Internet savvy consumers. A much bigger opportunity exists in 2 areas the first is in The Question , company's need to pro actively participate in conversation people are having within their market, providing assistance, answers, information and assurance. The second and most overlooked opportunity is with The Unhappy Customer , it is often in these interactions that you can get the biggest returns." At this point I was feeling more than a little confused, so I asked "What on earth do you mean?, are you talking about the people who are talking trash about your product, service or company?". I was very surprised by the answer, but it made some sense as Ryan put it, "look when someone says; oh Product A is great, I love it. The responses will be mostly the me too's or the, yes it's wonderful types of replies. When someone is making a complaint, many times it is out of frustration, and when a company can promptly and publicly respond, asks for input, bring others into this process, and openly communicates, something very amazing happens. Not only does the instigator feel like he has been validated (he is important, he has been heard, action has been taken), he also now feels like he is a part of the change, and everyone else who jumped into the conversation feels the same sense of satisfaction. Obviously this approach wont be right for every company, but for companies who genuinely believe in their products and/or services, and really care about their customer/client, it is essential that they build these online relationships. They also need to meet the customer where they are having the conversation (Twitter, Facebook, etc..), the challenge for the company is How do I know when a conversation has started? , after all it is a big Internet and there is a lot of chatter. That is where Internet Karma comes into play :) We monitor conversations in real-time across the Social Internet . We then alert our clients that a conversation has started, where it is (URL, Location, Who is involved, etc..) and display this information across a common interface, allowing the client to take action."
