Pinellas County Short Sale Realtor Shares the Good News for Pinellas County Seniors

Pinellas County Health and Human Services Department offers emergency energy assistance to seniors.

Tampa, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 11, 2011 -- Pinellas County Health and Human Services Department offers up to $600 energy assistance to senior citizens who are unable to pay their electricity bills.

The funds from the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco / Pinellas Inc will be used to assist senior residents of Pinellas County (age 60 and older) who are having difficulties of paying their electricity bill and are in danger of having their electricity disconnected during the heating and cooling season where the rate and demand are usually higher than normal.

Qualified seniors must have under a crisis with a delinquent notice from the electricity company that their power has been disconnected to be considered for the assistance program. Seniors may also be qualified to get repairs to their cooling unit or a voucher for heaters, blankets and fans.

Qualified seniors can get up to twice of help in a year during the high-demand seasons. The Health and Human Services team members screen the senior applicants to verify if they meet the income limits. The limit of income is 150% of the Federal Poverty Guideline wherein a household for one has a limit of $16,245 each year, household with 2 people has a limit of $21,065 and an additional $5,730 for each additional household member for homes with more than 8 members.
