Pioneer Transcription Services Celebrates 20 Years in Business

Deborah Devitt started the business when she left the traditional workforce to start a family. She had her first child in 1989, and a year later started Your Secretarial Service out of a spare bedroom in her home. She started out offering an array of secretarial services, but quickly realized she had "the ear" for transcription. Her first clients were dissertation students from the local university and a private investigations firm.

The years have brought many changes. The Internet and digital recording have made running a transcription service so much easier. For the past 11 years P.T.S. has been providing transcription to clients in Paris, France, South Africa, New York and all over California. The clients appreciate the ease of outsourcing this time consuming task. They simply upload their digital audio or video files at their website and transcript documents are returned to them in a timely manner.

The services offered include podcast transcription, DVD and CD transcription, conference call transcription, seminar transcription, corporate transcription and more.

Pioneer Transcription Services has seen steady growth over the past 20 years, adding new clients each year. "About five years ago we started using other independent subcontractors to assist us with our workload," states Deborah Devitt. Usually these subcontractors are other women working their own businesses, although Deborah's 21-year-old college daughter also lends a hand.

Deborah explains, "We are extremely picky about who we use to produce the work. Our clients expect an exceptional transcript from our service, and we do everything in our power to maintain very high standards. We only use the best of the best transcriptionists."
