A committee composed of the Tennessee Human Rights Commission, Metro Human Relations Commission, Church of Scientology, My Global Voice, the United Nations Association and the Tennessee AFL-CIO Labor Council has begun meeting bi-weekly in preparation for the activities set for December 7th from 4:30-6pm this year.
“We are excited about the speakers we are bringing in and the candidates for this year’s Human Rights Advocate awards,” says Rev. Brian Fesler, co-chair of the planning committee. This year the committee is putting a greater emphasis on future human rights leaders, featuring art from area high school students in the program and initiating the “Rising Advocate” award for individuals new to human rights work who show great promise.
The committee welcomes any organization involved in human rights work to participate in the planning or to have a booth at the event. For more information, visit www.nashvillehumanrights.org.
