About Americana Poker
Americana is a somewhat modified variant of 5-card stud and uses a 32-card stripped deck, with all the low cards below six removed. This makes for interesting play for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that the truncation of decks means that the hand-rankings are different from most other variants of poker.
Typically played fixed limit, online Americana uses a pot limit betting structure. Whether live or online, Americana is played shorthanded, with a maximum of six players at a table.

The game starts with each player posting a small ante, followed by all players being dealt two hole cards each, one face-down and the other face-down. The player with the highest hand must make a bring-in bet and then action proceeds clockwise around the table. Players may call, raise or fold. After this initial round, three community cards are dealt, each one after a round of betting, the final card completing the hand. If on the final betting round two or more players are still in the running, a showdown ensues with the player with the highest hand winning the pot.
Hand rankings are also different; the ace card of any suit can be used as either a high or a low card, and a flush outranks a full house. Also, when two players have the same hand, the tie is broken not on the basis of card ranks, but that of suits. The order of ranking of suits, highest to lowest, is as follows: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades.
