Playdate with a Purpose

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 7, 2010 -- Gymboree Play & Music in conjunction with Parents magazine is supporting the launch of Jumpstart’s Playdate with a Purpose. This initiative brings parents and young children together to read classic children’s books and participate in book-themed learning activities. Times for the event are listed below.

This new program is designed as a year round literacy effort to further support Read for the Record event held each October. This partnership highlights Gymboree Play & Music’s commitment to school readiness and pre-literacy.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that works toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. To cultivate a child’s social, emotional and intellectual readiness, Jumpstart brings college students and community volunteers together with preschool children for year long, individualized tutoring and mentoring.

What is Jumpstart’s Playdate with a Purpose?

Presented by Parents magazine, Jumpstart’s Playdate with a Purpose is a way to have a fun, interactive and educational playdate with the children in your life! It also helps you create an intentional learning experience for your children and provides a tangible way for you and your children to give to children in low-income communities. Your donation to Jumpstart will help provide books, supplies and programming to children in need.

*$5 funds the purchase of a book on behalf of you and your child and will include your child’s bookplate on the inside cover which will be donated to a child in need.
