Plumbworld Awarded with ISO 9001 Recognition

ISO which is the International Organization for Standardization was first developed in 1987 and was called ISO 9000, this was based on a series of standards called BS 5750 that were proposed in 1979, although history does intervene and concludes that there was some existence as far back as 1959. It has seen several updates over the years and is now called ISO 9001

To achieve this accolade you must be assessed with two types of auditing with the first audit being undertaken by an external certification body and the second by fully trained internal auditors. Once achieved this must be renewed at regular intervals of around 3 years.

Plumbworld have seen their business expand recently with the acquisition of new office premises to house the entire commercial team and not to mention the ever increasing number of websites that the team keep creating.

Plumbworld was an early pioneer of online trading, started by James and Anita Hickman in 1999 and was sold to the Grafton Group PLC in December 2006, Plumbworld now employ more than 50 people in their purpose built warehouse and offices and boast an astonishing 47 websites selling everything from tools and bathrooms to heated towel rails and wood burning stoves. The business has a turnover in excess of £18 million and is growing at more than 20% year on year.
