Plumbworld go Moustache Mad for ‘Movember’
Plumbworld are constantly doing things to aid and support charities and it seems they couldn’t let Movember pass without supporting the cause
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 17, 2012 --
All around the world, Movember is becoming more and more popular as it continues to promote and raise money for two male-specific cancers; prostate and testicular cancer. All support and funds raised go directly into programmes self-run by Movember and their partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research. The ‘Movember movement’, first started in Australia in 2003 has raised over £100 Million and attracted over 1 million supporters in the last 8 years.
Anyone can take part, male or female or ‘mo bro’ and ‘mo sister’ as supporters are commonly referred to – the objective isn’t to bungee jump or walk for miles, but simply grow a moustache. (Females can simply be supportive as opposed to actually growing one). If your business, school or community also want to take part, the Movember site allows for ‘teams’ to be created – so whether you’re a group of chefs or an organisation selling bath panels you can participate and make a difference. This is what Plumbworld has chosen to do as Scott Morris, E-Commerce Manager at Plumbworld explains:
“As a business, we feel this is a tremendous movement to take part in, not only will it help promote and raise awareness and money for an extremely helpful cause; it will also bring the business closer together. We have setup ‘team Plumbworld’ (http://mobro.co/plumbworld) on the Movember website and hopefully with a lot of people participating , we will be motivated to raise more money than each other; in turn raising more for the charities and Movember programme.” Scott continues; “It’s such a simple fund raiser, something which everyone can really get involved in, that’s the beauty of it. The only downside is potentially looking silly for a month if a mo’ isn’t your thing; but with everyone else around you sporting equally hairy upper-lips, it should be an enjoyable and worthwhile month.”
The rules to this fund raiser are simple; begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face and for the entire month one must grow and groom a moustache. The mo can’t be joined to sideburns or to chin hair and of course, the most important rule; each ‘mo bro’ must conduct himself like a true country gentleman!
Anthony Langston, Website & Returns Manager at Plumbworld chips in about Movember: “With thousands of people walking around with moustaches, people are essentially walking billboards for the charities; this in itself will increase awareness which is one of the main aims of the project. With prostate & testicle cancer affecting nearly 40,000 males a year; chances are the money raised and donated to the charities/programmes, may one day help someone close to you.”
Plumbworld was established in 1999 by James and Anita Hickman and was later sold to the Grafton Group PLC in December 2006, they now employ over 50 people in their purpose built warehouse and offices and turnover close to £20 million a year. The Plumbworld Empire expands month by month with new additions to staff and websites; the current website count sits at 49 with more in the pipeline. The websites vary hugely and specialise in anything from wood burning stoves and barbecues to bathrooms and kitchen sinks.
