It is now widely recognized that the arts have a positive impact on wellbeing for all of us. I strongly believe that it is possible to address any mental health issues in this creative way. With art you can inspire people when they are confronted with serious health problems or personal crises in their lives. Whether the pain is physical, emotional, psychological, or spiritual. It certainly helps to take control back into ones life by starting not to give into despair, especially in times of recession. True health can only come when one is in a positive emotional state, with inner peace and an acceptance & natural love for one’s own body. Only then dynamic wellbeing, childhood exuberance, boundless energy and a zest for life can develop. We believe artwork should act as an expression of one's own self-empowerment and freedom from an dead-end lifestyle into which many of us are born. This passion is evident in the beautiful paintings of Annett E. Bank, a Brighton based artist who has set out to celebrate sensitivity, emotional capacity, intuition, elegance and gentleness in her work. In a sense it's like a therapeutic diary, looking at one's inner nature and learn to love & accept oneself and one's body.

Annette's paintings are extremely well received by people, who deal with correcting and healing the body in their profession. Such are for example chiropractic & massage practitioners, alternative health clinics, treatment rooms, spas, sports centers, dance clubs and even life coaching practices. When you look at her art in person, then it is not difficult to see why. It is obvious that this is the central subject of her art as they all have a calming, yet uplifting and energizing effect. People love to meditate on them while concentrating on the possibility of being ‘light & fluid’ as the work assumes no boundaries of the human body and mind. In other words one realizes that one is not confined to ones physical form alone, instead is connected to all that is.

Annette has now started to extend her services to commissioned portraits of prenatal women. A new series of custom made colourful, abstract-expressionist paintings of gorgeous, pregnant women is thus currently underway, celebrating the divine feminine and the wonder of life through the medium of contemporary art. This is in collaboration with the Doula Consultancy Services from London (www.findadoula.org.uk) - a private midwifery service and non-profit community interest company who provides emotional comfort,support and information for expecting mothers. This unique artistic service will be added to their normal natural birthing services in January 2010, where they will be offering these portraits of either just the mother, or featuring her with partner and child.
