(Free-Press-Release.com) October 7, 2009 --Physician Office Managers Association of America (POMAA), a national professional association for medical professionals of small to midsized medical practices held its 1st Annual National Conference September, 2009 in Baltimore, MD. POMAA was uncertain of the outcome of the conference since it was the first event of this nature they had ever held and they are happy to announce it was a great success. With the combined efforts of POMAA's Executive Director, Desiree Baylin, CMOM, CPM-HRS, Jennifer Wilkes, CPM and POMAA's National Advisory Board, the conference received rave reviews.

POMAA's conference presented topics that were specific to medical practice management such as: "If Healthcare is About Well Being, Than Why am I so Stressed Out" by Jerry Bridge of Bridge Practice Management Group, "Communication Strategies for Effective Leadership" by Tracey Brinkach, M.A., "Human Resource Dilemmas" and "Overcoming the Time Crunch" by Laura Sachs Hills, author of "How to Recruit, Motivate, and Manage a Winning Staff," and "When Generations Collide" by Lon Kieffer. Other topics presented were on Medicare RAC Audits, Electronic Medical Records, and Maximizing Revenues in Troubled Times. The topics were specifically chosen to fit the needs of different sized medical practices and for a medical practice manager just beginning their career or for the more seasoned manager. "Planning a conference for medical office managers takes a lot of thought where you need to provide the best quality education for all involved," states Desiree Baylin, Executive Director of POMAA. "We were apprehensive and knew that our attendees had attended other conferences throughout their career, so it was imperative to hold their attention," stated Baylin. Charlene Burgett of North Scottsdale Family Medicine in Scottsdale, AZ had this to say about POMAA's conference, "It was the best conference I have ever attended; and, I have attended many!"

Attendees of POMAA's 1st Conference were from many different specialties in healthcare practice management. POMAA had to keep this in mind when they were planning the conference. We didn't have a typical conference with breakout sessions for the different specialties, because we didn't know what our attendance would be, so we had to gear our thinking toward all specialties. Not only did the attendees feel the conference was exceptional in how it was handled but the exhibitors did too, as stated by Roland Murphy with Oaisys Talkument, "I admit I was leery about exhibiting at a first conference, but you blew away any doubts I had. This was one of the top 5 conferences I've attended in any industry over my 15 years in this business. Kudos to all of you for what you've achieved."

POMAA is already planning its 2010 National Conference that will be held in New Orleans, LA September 22 - 24, 2010. Their 2010 conference will be sure to be an even bigger success now that they have their first conference behind them. In the words of a 2009 National Conference attendee Lucy Kelly of Urogynecology Associates, PC in Indianapolis, IN, "The first annual POMAA conference exceeded my expectations! While networking with other managers and building new friendships was awesome – the best thing I left with was a renewed spirit and vigor for my position as a Practice Administrator!
