United States of America -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Feb 4, 2010 -- With a worsening nationwide economy many Paramedic’s are looking to opportunities abroad. Paramedic demand overseas is increasing in these oil and gas producing countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. With the increasing demand in the oil and gas sector and ever rising prices of gas and oil. These countries are not affected by the downward spiral the US economy has taken.
Saudi Arabia with 25% of the world oil reserve has launched a project with the Saudi Red Crescent Society to provide state of the art EMS service to the entire country. In that pursuit they are actively recruiting western trained Paramedic’s from the US, Canada, Australia and South Africa to lend the skill and expertise to the existing EMS service. A fleet of MD 109 HEMS helicopters will provide a critical service to the entire country.
With the lure of a generous tax free salary, and Americas worsening economy. Many Paramedics are finding this opportunity to good to pass up.
Michael Owens (not his real name) a US paramedic is due to depart for the Saudi capital Riyadh in late January states. “I was defiantly influenced by Patrick Tom Notestines book *Paramedic to the Prince, Tom spent ten years in Saudi Arabia including being on the medical staff of King Abdullah, Notestines experience and adventure really inspired me to take the plunge and work overseas”.
With little signs of economic improvement in the US, and the high demand for western skill and training abroad there appears to be no end in sight for the critical Paramedic shortage affecting EMS services nationwide.
