http://www.PortlandTeenIdol.com DWP Executive Producer and owner Dennis Gleason says that “having the program develop into a larger scale program, increasing the brand’s value and adding television, greatly increases the number of youth that are positively impacted by the program”. The city continues to be a big part of the program, providing sponsorship, including financial and non-financial support. “We are honored to be the ones to take over the project and are very grateful to the city and to Jeff Milkes , the programs creator, for entrusting us with their baby,” said Gleason.
One can expect some big changes over the next two seasons under DWP, beginning with the logo. It has been radically re-vamped to help distinguish the program from its predecessors. It will also be aired on television premiering in September. “This allows us to provide a significant added benefit to the program and how it’s viewed by the public. It opens doors to sponsors and advertising sales that will help make the program profitable. Providing a commercial element increases the awards and most importantly, allows more teens to get involved in a program that may spark their career. Audition information can be found at www.PortlandTeenIdol.com and will be open through the end of March. a Facebook page has been created for the new program,” Gleason added.
“We are adding public speaking and presentation skills training to the program. Long term, will try to make the program active year round and some other proprietary enhancements that will be with held for now. Celebrity involvement, support from former idols and great partnerships are expected to lift the program up to meet its aggressive goals over the coming seasons. We are re-partnering up with former sponsors, adding outings for both former and current idols and even giving former idols and finalists, a chance to perform. The program has great potential and we’re excited to see it come together. Those finalists from former year's programs had wonderful opportunities during their respective seasons. With the addition of television and our desire to create a long-term relationships with those that wish to stick with the program, we have opened our doors to allow them to continue to participate, allbeit on a smaller scale. Participation may even include public group performances." he concluded
Can’t sing or not qualified? Volunteers are needed to spread the word about the March registration deadline for Season 5. Sponsors are needed to assist with raising the broadcasting funds – ads and promotion will be included in the return on investment – an increase in value from prior years with the television and celebrity element.
