Town Graphics To Offer QR Codes and Microsoft Tags For Tri-Fold Full Color Tourist Map
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Woodinville,
Washington,
United States of America
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 2, 2011 --
Woodinville-based Town Graphics is the first to produce hand-drawn pictorial maps of the Olympic Peninsula Victorian seaport Port Townsend that use changeable 2D Codes. Two proof-of-concept maps have been created. One birds-eye map uses Microsoft Tags and the other QR Codes. In the two mock-ups, the 2D codes link to sponsors short YouTube videos. Links can be changed at anytime by merchants to reflect current events, special promotions, coupons, scavenger hunts, podcasts, articles, interviews, blog posts, photos, Facebook wall, etc.
“2D Codes are the perfect digital vehicle for the business traveler/ tourist. Information is there at their finger-tips,” states Larry Morris, owner of Town Graphics. “When they are navigating unfamiliar terrain it is hard to beat an accurate graphic that allows the user to make a mental picture of the community. With a couple of clicks, merchants can communicate with consumers through their smartphone by changing the 2D Code on the map. The reason I did a Microsoft Tag map is because we have been publishing maps of Redmond, WA for years.“
“The City is investigating using QR Codes and Microsoft Tags as a way to enhance way-finding, “explains Rick Sepler, Planing/DSD Director For The City Of Port Townsend. “This use of 2D code technology in maps is supportive of these goals.”
“Sharing is one of the key components to building business & building community,” says Teresa Verraes, Executive Director Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. “Whether it be ingredients, special offers, directions or events, I think that quick response codes can inspire people to learn more and take action in a profound way.”
“Participating in QR-codes for my small business has been valuable. I’m able to share detailed information and update information easily,” says LaTrecia Arthur, Owner Perfect Endings Cupcakes. “With QR-codes I can pass on exciting specials and marketing promotions to help grow my business.”
