Prayer is a form of religious practice that helps to activate connection with the God. It is a means of communicating with the Almighty. Through prayer one can enjoy the presence of God, talk with him, listen to him and share sorrows and joys with him. We often pray to God to ask him for his help, to thank him, to feel sorry for our mistakes and to express our devotion and faith in him. We pray to God because we love him, we believe in him, we depend on him and because we know that God is always there to listen to us. In the Holy Bible various forms of prayer have been mentioned like petition prayer, thanksgiving prayer and worship prayer.  The prayers for help often done as requests to God are the petition prayers , where as thanksgiving prayers generally express one’s gratefulness towards God for all his blessings and worship prayers are done as custom or habits showing one’s devotion towards the Infinite. In Christianity, every prayer to God Jesus ends with a closing like “In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen” or simply “Amen”.

Prayer is not mere reciting of words. It should always be done with complete faith, sincerity, dedication and real intent then only it reaches the God. When we pray with faith we mean that we believe in God, when we pray with sincerity it means that we actually do what we are saying and praying with real intent means we are willing to do God’s will. The simplest form of God’s prayer is a prayer from the heart as God always answers to a cry which is from the heart.

A prayer can be done either individually or in a group. It can be spelled orally as one’s wishes to say or read as a pattern of prayer poems from the books. A number of prayer collections written by authors like Robert Frost, Alexander Pope, Anne Bronte, Carl Sandburg, James Joyce and Harbajan Matharu are available. By reading these prayers to God with true devotion one can experience blessings of God and can have absolute peace of mind.
