Pre-Purchase Of Grave Plots In Hailsham A Possibility…
Over the past few years, a number of Hailsham residents have made enquiries about the possibility of pre-purchasing grave spaces at Hailsham Cemetery in Ersham Road.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 8, 2010 --
Hailsham Town Council discussed this at its meeting of the Burials & Properties Committee on 23rd November 2009, and have agreed in principle that the pre-purchase of spaces at Hailsham Cemetery should be allowed. At present, the purchase of grave plots is only permitted at the time of death of a relative.
Councillors and officers are now in the process of drawing up firm proposals, including the creation of a separate section of the cemetery to allow this scheme to proceed.
Cllr John Glover, chairman of the Burials & Properties Committee, said “If approved, this will enable residents who wish to do so to make plans for their funeral, which will be a major source of comfort to people who wish to get their affairs in order.”
“By pre-purchasing burial plots at Hailsham Cemetery, families will be spared the burden of making this decision at a difficult time in their lives.”
