JOLIET, ILLINOIS
Ryan M. Alm, resident of Joliet and Precinct Committeeman is formally announcing his bid for the Illinois House of Representatives seat for District 86, currently held by incumbent John C. "Jack" McGuire (D-IL).
“After 15 years of the same type of tax and spend policies, we need fresh representation for District 86 that is more in-line with the citizen’s views of this historic District. Our people are being taxed to death, their voices are not being heard and they need jobs,” Mr. Alm said in a statement.
Candidate Alm will be running in the 86th District, which covers portions of Channahon, Elwood, Rockdale, Joliet and Crest Hill.
The Candidate states that he will lead an anti-tax, pro-business and pro-constitution campaign.
“The current House Representative, in January 2011, raised taxes 67% on District 86 citizens and 57% on its businesses. This, in essence, is taking an extra one-week of your paycheck every year for the next 4-years. That is an outrage,” Alm said in another statement.
“In the Precincts where I live and serve, the citizens call this ‘Jack’s Tax,’ and the people tell me ‘please repeal Jack’s Tax, it’s affecting our families,’ ” and he claims his agenda is to do just that.
The Candidate continued to state that, “over 15 years the taxpayers of District 86 have paid Rep. McGuire a salary of $1-Million-Dollars and have received little in return. He has held no town-hall meetings, no mailers to our homes explaining his actions in the Illinois General Assembly and in the height of our 13%-to-17% unemployment in Will County, he raised our taxes by 67%. This is not effective representation for our citizens. In addition, an independent organization analyzed McGuire’s 2010 voting record and found it to be against the free-market 75% of the time. High taxes and anti-business regulations do not make a healthy environment for Jobs.”
As a 40-year resident of Will County, the Candidate feels he has well-rounded experience, ready to step into the position as Illinois House Representative. Mr. Alm has amassed experience in infrastructure, business, education, technology, labor, government and law - both criminal and civil.
Mr. Alm wants to apply a positive common-sense approach towards tackling the State’s issues, relying heavily upon his paralegal law school degree and his juris-doctorate law school education and a decade of experience as a 4-year Will County State’s Attorney Felony Crimes Paralegal combined with an additional 6-years of civil law experience, to meet the challenges of the District and the State of Illinois.
