Precise flow rate measurements with the ADC from OTT Hydromet
The OTT ADC (acoustic digital current meter) is a mobile acoustic flow rate measurement device for measuring point speeds in open waterways such as rivers, streams or irrigation channels.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 4, 2011 --
Due to the difficult conditions that apply to flow rate measurements in open waterways, they are among the most challenging disciplines involved in this procedure. For decades they have been carried out based on classic plumb line procedures with mechanical blades.
The ADC (acoustic digital current meter) from OTT Hydromet GmbH based in Kempten in the Allgäu is an acoustic flow measurement device for measuring point speeds in open waterways (e.g. in rivers, streams or irrigation channels). It uses acoustic metering principles for more accurate calculations. Unlike mechanical procedures, the ADC transmits ultrasound signals and scans the echo patterns received. In addition, using mathematical processes based on the internationally acknowledged EN ISO 748 standard, the flow speed is calculated in the connected control device, which means precise and reliable measuring results are guaranteed.
With the aid of adapters it is easy to attach the OTT ADC to various measuring systems. A pressurised measuring cell incorporated in the sensor enables automatic recording of both the water depth at the measuring plumb line as well as the device’s immersion depth.
All the important measurements are shown to the user on a graphic display on the light and convenient control device. The software guides the user step by step through the measuring process and helps you position the sensor accurately. When each measurement is complete, the flow rate is automatically and accurately calculated. With the ADC by OTT Hydromet it is possible to interpret and evaluate the data wherever the measurement is carried out. This enables immediate data analysis plus quick and reliable measurement of results.
If insufficient measurable data are available at the measuring point, the control device automatically suggests you look for a better place to measure.
