PRESCHOOLERS DO HOUSEHOLD CHORES
AND EARN MONEY TO PURCHASE FOOD FOR THOSE IN NEED
What: Less fortunate families throughout the Grove City community help inspire the the four and five-year-olds at the Primrose School at Pinnacle to push shopping carts, scan shelves and fill grocery bags with non-perishable foods on their field trip to the Grove City Giant Eagle on December 1st. All purchases will then be donated to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank to bring a warm Thanksgiving meal to local families in need.
This donation of nearly 2,000 food items comes when American families find themselves in critical need. Many people are turning to food banks such as the Mid-Ohio Foodbank for the first time because of the economic climate. According to Feeding America, in recent years approximately 36.2 million Americans lived in food insecure households, 23.8 million adults and 12.4 million children.
Children at Primrose School at Pinnacle have spent the past month earning money by completing extra chores at home. The students recently pooled their money and created a detailed shopping list to follow at the grocery store. As part of the Balanced Learning® curriculum, Primrose Schools’ Caring and Giving program helps students understand the value of generosity and creates a hands-on approach to math, nutrition and planning skills.
